Thanks so much to our friends from Grub & Love for putting together this amazing review of the three geekiest restaurants in town! Anyone ready for lunch?
What to do? Big Bang Theory just went off and you’re ready to get out of the house for a little while. Clubs, ehhh….not tonight.
You’ve already seen Batman and the latest Star Wars over 5 times. Is there anything in this town that takes all the geeky things you love such as games, comic books, sci-fi, food and beer and combines them for a great night out? Well, we do live in Huntsville, Alabama, a town built by Geeks and Nerds and I mean that in the most respectful way!!!
Bazinga!! We happen to have three super geeked out restaurants that will surely satisfy your nerd fix. But which one should I try first? Maybe a good game of rock, paper, scissors to solve this dilemma? “Scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitates lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock, and as it always has, rock crushes scissors.”
Supper Heroes
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No… it’s SUPPER HEROES!!! Who grew up reading Marvel and DC comics as a kid? Today’s generation missed out on a great era. Instead of IPads and smartphones, our generation had imagination and heck we even had Underoos with all of our Superhero favorites!
If you do not know what an Underoo is then whip out your smartphone and Google it!! It just happened to be some of the coolest pajama sets ever for kids back in the 80’s.
Supper Heroes is a comic book themed family friendly restaurant that will absolutely surprise you with their incredible menu and super friendly staff! And Bazingaaaa!!! at the comic book collection! Framed comic books hang all over the place from the owner’s personal collection.
A geek’s dream come true to be sitting in the midst of comic greatness!! While you are wallowing in comic book euphoria, your kids can make their way to the Star Wars room and play pinball, foosball or read some great comics! Kids can also grab some paper and crayons and draw their favorite superhero that may be selected for Supper Heroes’ Hall of Justice.
The owners, Mike and Mark are a couple of superhero chefs that make some incredibly yummy dishes that would make Aquaman’s mouth water! They have a great variety of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and dogs as well as fantastic salads which makes it hard to make a decision on what to get… So being the geek I am, I came up with a super complicated mathematical equation!
HUNGRY + 7 DAYS A WEEK = TRY EVERYTHING ON THE MENU
Problem solved!! Well that may have been a little more Penny than Leonard but you get my point!!
The Cowpoke burger made with a quarter pound beef patty, covered with a slice of cheddar cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce, then covered with crispy onion strings between two pieces of Texas toast was so fresh and delicious! Get that with some hot fries and a side of slaw and you have a meal for a superhero appetite!! Be sure to start that meal with some amazing fried pickles! You will love them!

Pints & Pixels
O’Doyle: Mortal Kombat on Sega Genesis is the best video game ever.
Billy Madison: I disagree. Mortal Kombat is a good game but I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.
O’Doyle: Donkey Kong sucks!
Billy Madison: You know something? You suck!
I personally love Donkey Kong and I really love Pints & Pixels! What an old school gamers paradise! Colorful and wicked crazy pinball machines that seem to go on for miles and the greatest arcade games of my childhood are just sitting there enticing me to drop a P&P token in the slot!! I don’t know how many of you remember Timezone in Madison Square Mall (God rest her soul) but Pints & Pixels takes me back to that wonderful time when I was a young teen and the mall was the place to be on Friday nights and Saturdays, well accept now I can walk up to the bar and get a refreshing adult beverage and some yummy Anaheim Chili!!
Located on the 3rd floor of the U.G. White building at Clinton Row, Pints & Pixels surprises you as you step off the elevator! It’s HUGE guys with wall to wall games! This is truly a play and eat experience! There are several tables located around the big curvy bar that puts you right in the middle of the action and if you want something a little more cozy there are comfortable booths towards the back! I really love the building with its old nostalgic woodwork and high ceilings but full of timeless classic games I loved as a young geek! As we were sitting there eating I noticed several fellow geeks taking pictures with their phones of the games of their childhood! Ahhh geek love!!
Now to the food, one thing for sure there is nothing blah or bland about it!! Anaheim Chili does not disappoint! I had the Triple Cup! Three bowls of delicious chili and oh my goodness at the flavors! There are so many to choose from some with crazy heat like the Ghost Pepper chili and some sweet like the Carolina chili!
My personal favorite was the Homestyle and White chili! Mmmmmm it hit the spot! Steph had the buffalo shrimp with the most incredible onion rings I have ever tasted!! With your meal and drinks they give you free tokens to go be a kid again!
All i needed was a pair of acid washed jeans and some high top Reeboks and I would be rocking 1985 again!! Well… maybe not, but it’s fun to think about this times!!
