Last night during the Super Bowl, Netflix dropped a nuclear bombshell of an announcement in their commercial. A new Cloverfield movie was out, and it was going to be available right after the game was over.
The J.J. Abrams led chronology series featuring different perspectives of the same apocalyptic event has become almost mythical in nature, dropping surprise announcements just prior to release. This one not only was a huge surprise because the film was almost immediately available, but it was a huge surprise because the city of Huntsville plays a big role in it.
Minor SPOILERS below for The Cloverfield Paradox!
In the film, a team of astronauts are on board a futuristic space station called Cloverfield Station which is equipped with a particle accelerator. They’re attempting to harness the energy created to help bring about peace to a war-torn planet fighting over resources.
While the station is in orbit, protagonist and crewmember Ava Hamilton radios back to Earth. Take a wild guess of who they’re talking to.
Cloverfield Station is in radio contact with Payload Operations Integration Center at Marshall Space Flight Center!
Good to know that even in alternative future timelines, Huntsville is still in the lead in space!
